Listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 2 March 2004, the Company is one of the PRC's most efficient iron and steel producers. In December 2007, ArcelorMittal, the world's largest steel giant, became the strategic partner and the substantial shareholder of the Company. The Group's products are mainly sold domestically, with its major customers based in Northern China. Customers of the Group are downstream steel manufacturers who further process billets and strips into downstream steel products, which are used mainly in the construction industry and for the manufacture of machinery. In addition, China Oriental also produces downstream products including H-sections steel which has a leading position in the industry and other downstream products such as cold rolled sheets and galvanized sheets. China Oriental is an integrated iron and steel conglomerate.

Date History
March 2010 The audited consolidated gross profit of the Group in 2009 was RMB 2,006 million. The audited profit before tax and profit attributable to equity holders of the Company were RMB 1,314 million and RMB 884 million respectively.
November 2009 Cooperation framework agreement with Asian Logistic Group which will assist the Company in constructing a cargo site at Santunying Station of Zunxiao Railway and providing railway logistics and transportation services to Jinxi Limited for 2 years. The transportation distance will be reduced from 521km to 96km with lower transportation costs.
March 2009 Acquired main assets from Hengfeng to increase the group’s production capacity to 7,000,000 tonnes per annum.
July 2008 Commence production of two additional H-section steel lines and increased total capacity of H-section steel to 3,000,000 tonnes per annum.
January 2008 Stake in Foshan Jinxi Jinlan Cold Rolled Sheet Co., Ltd to 81.5%. Jinxi Jinlan will reconstruct one of its production lines to produce ultra-thin steel sheets used for high-end consumer electronics.
November 2007 ArcelorMittal became a strategic partner and substantial shareholder.
June 2006 Commenced production of H-section steel with capacity of 1,300,000 tonnes per annum.
December 2004 Acquisition of 60% stake in Foshan Jinxi Jinlan Cold Rolled Sheet Co., Ltd.
March 2004 China Oriental Group successfully listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
